About
Vicki Kamhi

I have been working as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol/Other Drug Counselor for over 16 years. I have a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University, as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Human Services with a concentration in Substance Abuse from the University of Illinois-Springfield.

I offer counseling to individuals who are struggling with a wide range of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, anger management, substance use, grief and loss, chronic illness, and life transitions.

I have worked in a hospital setting with patients who were hospitalized with serious, sometimes terminal, health issues and their family members. I've also provided counseling support to people grappling with substance use disorders in residential and outpatient settings. Most recently, I offered counseling support to nursing students who were struggling with the stress of meeting the demands of nursing school while also balancing their emotional , mental, and physical well-being. I currently offer therapy to individuals in Illinois through telehealth and in-person therapy in Springfield, Illinois.

My experience with these individuals from all walks of life has given me a deep respect and genuine empathy for their courage and willingness to step out onto a path leading to the unknown. I continue to be amazed at the strength and grit that people tap into when they’re facing some really tough situations. Even though I don’t know you, I believe that you too possess this grit that will serve you well on your journey.

When I’m not wearing my therapist hat, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and being out in nature. I love to hike and am creating a backyard that welcomes birds, butterflies, and bees. I’m a nomad at heart and live to go on adventures with my family to amazing places like Alaska, Canada, and Glacier National Park. I have a daily meditation practice which is very calming and centering. I enjoy going on week-long silent meditation retreats which give me a “time out” from all the busyness of life and help me be more present to my inner life and the world around me.
